Housekeeper, Server and Lodge SupportOpportunity
Provides superlative service to River Dance Lodge guests and co-workers.
We are looking to fill an all around support position at our Lodge. This position will be responsible for housekeeping, serving guests in the cafe as well as general grounds keeping. If you are looking for a position with variety, this is the spot for you.
Note that our accommodations are not typical hotel rooms, but rather, they are cabins with several rooms. This requires more attention to detail and following procedures than a typical hotel situation.
Housekeeper - Duties & Responsibilities:
- Follows detailed worksheet for each cabin cleaning
- Completes inventory of cabin contents on form provided. Provides information on any missing items to the manager.
- Daily maintenance of hot tubs.
- Clean building floors and walls by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.
- Change bedding and make beds as directed.
- Stock cabin food supplies (coffee, tea, sugar, etc.) as needed.
- Replenish supplies such as drinking glasses, linens, writing supplies, and bathroom items.
- Gather and empty trash.
- Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
- Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
- Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
- Move and arrange furniture, and turn mattresses.
- Make adjustments and to heating, cooling and ventilating systems.
- Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
- Steam-clean or shampoo carpets. Polish floors.
- Clean and restore building interiors damaged by fire, smoke, or water, using commercial cleaning equipment.
- Clean chimneys, flues, and connecting pipes, using power and hand tools.
- Drive vehicles required to perform or travel to cleaning work, including vans
- Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
- Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.
- Notify supervisor concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
- Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, and ladders to prepare facilities for events such as banquets and meetings.
- Spray insecticides and fumigants as directed to prevent insect infestation.
- Remove debris from driveways and all public areas inside or out.
- Replace light bulbs.
- Sort clothing and other articles, load washing machines, and iron and fold dried items.
- Sort, count, and mark clean linens, and store them in linen closets.
- Deliver any items requested by guests to cabins.
- Observe precautions required to protect resort and guest property, and report damage, theft, and found articles to supervisors.
- Carry linens, towels, toilet items, and cleaning supplies, using wheeled carts or by hand as needed.

Server - Duties & Responsibilities:
- Accurately and quickly take and place all food orders with the kitchen, according to the prescribed procedure which includes providing a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere for our guests.
- Shall use and master the café’s POS (Point of Sale) system.
- Answer all questions about cooking methods, menu items, specials and prices of all items.
- Prepare and deliver beverage and dessert orders
- Check food to ascertain that appearance, temperature and portions are correct and deliver food orders in a timely fashion. Garnish plates as directed by kitchen.
- Prepare the guest check accurately and present it to the guest before their departure.
- Collect payment from the guest.
- Clean, clear and reset dining room tables including refilling condiments as needed.
- Assist in seating and greeting the guest.
- Clean and restock service items
- Sorts racks, presoaks or prewashes as needed.
- Perform opening and closing duties as directed
- Responsible for cleaning the restaurant including dusting, sweeping, mopping, cleaning mirrors and windows, carpet, other equipment and furnishings. Cleaning the bathrooms, refilling hand soap, restocking toilet paper and tissues etc. Shall also pick litter in and around the café as needed.
- Assists in organizing the retail shop in the café. Serves customers wishing to buy items from the shop.
- Greets cabin guests as they arrive to check in and make them comfortable until the manger on duty can take care of them.
- Collects information about guests by encouraging them to fill out evaluation forms or mailing list sign up forms.
- Visits with all guests to determine if they are locals from the area, or tourists traveling through. If locals, reqeusts that they sign up for our email list.
- Has knowledge to properly answers guest questions regarding to our facility, area attractions and ROW operations.
- Makes sure all guests are satisfied with their dining experience. If any problem occurs, reports to manager immediately.
- The position requires a flexible work schedule and some days may require split shifts.
Groundskeeper - Duties & Responsibilities:
- Follows detailed worksheet for routine groundskeeping duties.
- Waters all plants, flowers and grass on property by hand, sprinkler or other methods as needed.
- Mows and trims all lawn areas.
- Pulls weeds by hand or uses “weed wacker” as appropriate.
- Planting, fertilizing and other gardening jobs as needed.
- Maintains and operates drip watering system.
- Responsible for cleaning and maintenance of all outside areas near café, cabin and campground includng groundskeeping and garbage maintenance.
- Keeps all related equipment clean, maintained and stored properly.
- Keeps equipment storage room neat, clean and organized.
- Completes inventory of supplies and informs manager when additional supplies are needed.
- Keeps the entire property free of litter, cigarette butts and other trash.
- Shall perform routine “rounds” of the grounds in the evening enforcing noise and other curfews and fulfilling any guest needs.
- Shall perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- Must be able to communicate clearly with managers and other personnel.
- Willing to work in a variety of areas with a variety of responsibilities
- Must be proficient in English.
- Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds.
- Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 9 hours).
Miscellaneous:
As a roadside resort we serve three distinct clientele. One is our cabin guests, another are tourists passing through the area and the third are local people who live in the area and may travel as much as 100 miles to eat at the restaurant. Because of our remote location flexibility is required. We may ask you to work a split shift, meaning working in the morning and then returning to work later in the day. We sometimes have guests arrive late and need to keep to accommodate them. A high level of guest service is expected and only those people willing to provide this should apply for this job. A strong teamwork ethic is also required and all coworkers should also be considered as guests. Adherence to all employee policies is required. If staying at the employee accommodations provided by River Dance Lodge adherence to all applicable rules is required.

- Most positions are physically demanding and require lifting, bending, standing and kneeling.
- We usually try to wrap up our hiring by early March, but feel free to check with us if you discover the Rriver Dance Lodge after that date. Also, please use the Letters of Recommendation forms and have these returned by this deadline.
- Once your application has been received, you will be notified if you have been selected for a telephone interview. Generally interviews are conducted from January through March.
