Welcome to River Dance Lodge - Ranch Resort PDF Print E-mail

If we were located in Central America, we’d be called an eco-resort, or eco-lodge. Since we’re in Idaho, we call ourselves an adventure resort. We've also been called an Idaho Guest Ranch. While we don’t have horses on premise, there are horses and horseback rides just a few miles up the road and miles and miles of fantastic riding trails. We work with a couple of local outfitters to provide you with a guided horseback ride. It’s the perfect solution for many of our guests who are looking for more of the classic guest ranch experience. These rides can be for half of a day, a full day, or even longer if you want. Most people find that a half day or full day of horseback riding is enough, especially since we offer so many other great outdoor adventures.

The scenery is spectacular at River Dance Lodge. It’s the kind that restores the soul. We invite you to a place where you’ll create precious moments of discovery, growth and learning that will always be with you. Moments that may come as you’re paddling a raft, riding on the back of a horse, coasting downhill on a mountain bike, hiking on a creekside trail, or with a fish rising to your fly in a rushing river.

In the heart of the Bitterroot Mountains, The River Dance Lodge is set next to the Middle Fork of the Clearwater River in Syringa, Idaho, just six miles downstream from the confluence of the Lochsa and Selway Rivers. The Lochsa, Selway and Middle Fork of the Clearwater are among the original eight rivers protected by Congress in 1968 through the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act. Out of hundreds of possible choices, these original eight were chosen as National Treasures because Congress did not want to risk any compromise of their outstanding water quality and scenic beauty.

The Lewis & Clark Trail is within easy striking distance from our log cabin guest ranch and not much has changed in this area since Lewis & Clark traveled here more than 200 years ago on their historic journey. We are surrounded by National Forests. Just a few miles up the road you’ll find the 1.1 million acre Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness Area and hundreds of miles of hiking trails, free-flowing creeks and rivers and ancient forests of cedar, pine, fir, tamarack, hemlock and spruce.

River Dance Lodge is the ideal adventure resort for families and groups. Our custom-built log cabins overlook the Clearwater River and are the perfect base for those seeking rest and relaxation, as well as for those who want an active rafting, fly fishing, hiking, biking or horseback riding vacation. Our lodge has eight hand-crafted log cabins to accommodate your group or family. You'll find plenty to do in the area, with guided hikes, horseback riding, fly fishing, drift boat fishing, whitewater rafting, mountain biking, canoeing, and kayaking trips. We also feature fantastic all-inclusive adventure packages. Nearby there is excellent swimming from white sand beaches in the crystal clear waters of the Clearwater, Lochsa or Selway rivers as well as superb fly fishing.

At the end of the day, enjoy the ambiance of your own handcrafted log cabin, soak your body in your private hot tub, and enjoy the heavenly view of forested Idaho mountains as you listen to the hum of the gently flowing Clearwater River.

We are located just 90 miles east of Lewiston, Idaho on Hwy 12 with easy fly in access from Lewiston, Idaho, Missoula, Montana or Spokane, Washington. Highway 12 is a designated All American Highway because of the spectacular scenery it passes through. It also passes in front of our lodge property, separating us from the river, making it easy to find us as you travel.
