Join us at River Dance Lodge for a week or a weekend getaway for top Idaho fishing, rafting, horseback riding, kayaking, canoeing or hiking!

Family Adventure Camp

We offer our Family Adventure Camp vacation experience to groups of 10+ in July and August by request including 3-day and 6-day lodge packages.

Bond with your kids as you share the fun of a family rafting trip, or go canoeing or kayaking on crystal clear rivers. Try fly fishing for trout, horseback riding over mountain trails and rediscover with your family the wonder of nature. River Dance Lodge lies close to the Lewis and Clark trail offering your family the opportunity to learn much about these explorers’ travels through this area 200 years ago. Adjacent to the 1.1 million-acre Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness Area, hike through this area, thick with forests of fir, pine and cedar.

Fly Fishing and Trout Fishing in Idaho

Our property at River Dance Lodge lies in the heart of trout fishing nirvana! Our summer and fall on the Lochsa, Selway and Clearwater rivers offer fishermen the best Idaho fly fishing and trout fishing based out of our comfortable accommodations in our riverside lodge and log cabins. You can walk outside your cabin and cast in a fine hole just across from the Lodge or you can hop in a car and drive to other superb fishing waters nearby.

Guided trout fishing trips may be arranged with ROW Adventures on the lower Selway or Middle Fork Clearwater. We also offer a fly fishing clinic in the fall where novices can learn to fly fish and experienced anglers can perfect their technique. Unguided fishing opportunities for west-slope cutthroat trout are excellent on the Lochsa River where there are plenty of 14-18” fish. Steelhead fishers will want to travel about 40 minutes west of River Dance Lodge to fish on the Clearwater River near the Dworshak fish hatchery near Orofino, the world's largest. In the fall, winter and early spring thousands of steelhead migrate back to this hatchery as well as to another at Clear Creek. These hatcheries make the main stem of the Clearwater River downstream from River Dance Lodge a steelhead fishing mecca. Just call us to give us your specific dates for your fishing trip.

Idaho Horseback Riding

Through our partner outfitters, we offer half-day and full-day rides in the surrounding Selway-Bitteroot Mountains. Whether you’re experienced or a novice rider, saddle up for a ride through the forest and spectacular views of this rugged mountain landscape. Along the way there’s plenty to learn. Your guides can tell you about the role of forest fires in this area, Lewis and Clark’s adventures, the local plants and animals and much more.

Local Idaho Hiking and Canoeing

In September of 1805 the Lewis and Clark Expedition’s Corps of Discovery spent their most difficult days hiking over the Bitterroot Mountains just north of the Lochsa River. They touched the banks of the Lochsa and many of its tributary creeks, naming some of them as they went. They eventually reached the Middle Fork of the Clearwater, just downstream of our own River Dance Lodge. Our Adventure Resort is the perfect base for exploring this section of the Lewis and Clark Trail where you can also take your own canoeing trip while enjoying a relaxing luxury lodge-based vacation.

There are also miles of hiking trail on National Forest lands near River Dance Lodge.Hike up Smith Creek from your cabin and you may see moose, elk or black bear or walk to a wilderness hot spring. About an hour away is Selway Falls and the trailhead for Meadow Creek, a beautiful and gentle trail. We have plenty of hiking trails to direct you to from the Lodge.
