Sample Itinerary-

Four Days - Thursday to Sunday All Inclusive (Summer Package: June 13 - Sept 4)

Thursday
4:00 pm – Check in. Guests arrive and check in to their cabins.
6:00 pm – Get acquainted with other lodge guests as we host appetizers and introductions and orientation for the week. Choose tomorrow’s activities.
7:00 pm – Dinner is served in the Syringa Cafe. After dinner enjoy time around the campfire visiting with others, or retreat for a quiet evening in your cabin.

Friday
9:00 am – Breakfast is served in the restaurant.
10:00 am – Meet at the ROW Adventures outpost building (next to the restaurant) for today’s activities.

Adventure Series: Grab a paddle for a relaxing gentle float trip aboard rafts or, for those looking for a bigger challenge, your own sit-on-top kayak. The other choice today is a hiking trip on a nearby trail. There are dozens of trails to choose from and each week the destinations will be different depending on trail conditions, weather and other seasonal aspects such as whether or not huckleberries are ripe, etc.
Explorer Series: A hiking trip on a nearby trail. There are dozens of trails to choose from and each week the destinations will be different depending on trail conditions, weather and other seasonal conditions. We’ll tailor this to each group’s interest as some trails are more demanding than others. One example would be an easy walk up Canyon Creek to visit the ruins of a Japanese Internment camp from the days of WWII. This is an amazing story and important part of our country’s history. After this we go to the Lochsa Historical Ranger Station to learn more about the early years of the Forest Service and their important role in shaping the West.

Whatever activity you choose, we’ll have lunch on the river on a lovely sand beach, or on the trail beneath towering pines.

3:30 pm – We return to River Dance Lodge. Those who went hiking may want to head to a nearby beach for a swim. Otherwise enjoy some free time in your cabin.
6:00 pm – Appetizers on the restaurant patio.
7:00 pm – Dinner served in the Syringa Cafe. Sign up for tomorrow’s activities. After dinner enjoy time around the campfire if you’d like. We’ll have our telescope out for star gazing.

Saturday
9:00 am – Breakfast is served in the restaurant.
10:00 am – Meet at the ROW Adventures outpost building for today’s activities.

Adventure Series: If you were on the river yesterday, perhaps today you’ll want to choose a hike or bike ride? Bike rides vary from fairly level dirt roads to steep and rather extreme single track riding. Likewise, hikes can be on fairly level terrain, or steeper, more challenging routes.
Explorer Series: Today we drive high into the mountains above the lodge, then take a short hike to an active fire lookout with incredible views over the Bitterroot Mountains. It’s the perfect setting to learn about the “big burn” of 1910 that shaped the history of the West. In August we’ll likely find huckleberries to pick too! Lunch will take place during your activity.

3:30 pm – Return to the lodge. Free time.
6:00 pm – Appetizers outside under the trees. Dutch oven cooking class for whoever would like to learn how to cook a cake in a Dutch oven.
7:00 pm – Dinner under the trees by Little Smith Creek. Enjoy some great gourmet camp cooking followed by a campfire, songs and star gazing.

Sunday

9:00 am – Breakfast and check out. Please have your cabins empty so our house cleaning crew can get to work. If you want to extend your time in the area, you could sign up for an optional morning or full-day horseback ride before heading to your next destination.
