Five Days - Sunday to Thursday All Inclusive (Spring Package: May 15 - June 26)
Sunday
3:00 pm – Check in. Guests arrive and check in to their cabins.
6:00 pm – Get acquainted with other lodge guests as we host appetizers, introductions and orientation for the week. Choose tomorrow’s activities.
7:00 pm – Dinner is served in the Syringa Cafe. After dinner enjoy time around the campfire visiting with others, or retreat for a quiet evening in your cabin.
Monday
7:30 am – Breakfast is served in the restaurant.
9:00 am – Meet at the ROW Adventures outpost building (next to the restaurant) for today’s activity choices.
Adventure Series: Raft the wild Lochsa!
Explorer Series: A hiking trip on a nearby trail. There are dozens of trails to choose from and each week the destinations will be different depending on trail conditions, weather and other seasonal conditions. We’ll tailor this to each group’s interest as some trails are more demanding than others. One example would be an easy walk up Canyon Creek to visit the ruins of a Japanese Internment camp from the days of WWII. This is an amazing story and important part of our country’s history. After this we go to the Lochsa Historical Ranger Station to learn more about the early years of the Forest Service and their important role in shaping the West.
Whatever activity you choose, we’ll have lunch on the river on a lovely sand beach, or on the trail beneath towering pines.
4:30 pm – We return to River Dance Lodge. Watch photos of the rafting trip in the café, then enjoy some free time in your cabin.
6:30 pm – Appetizers on the restaurant patio.
7:00 pm – Dinner served in the Syringa Cafe. Sign up for tomorrow’s activities. After dinner enjoy time around the campfire if you’d like.
Tuesday
7:30 am – Breakfast is served in the restaurant.
9:00 am – Meet at the ROW Adventures outpost building for today’s activities.
Adventure Series: You can raft the Lochsa river again if that’s your preference. Or, if you were on the river yesterday, perhaps today you’ll want to choose a hike or bike ride? Bike rides vary from fairly level dirt roads to steep and rather extreme single track riding.
Explorer Series: If enough snow has melted from the roads we’ll offer a drive followed by a short hike to an active fire lookout where you’ll enjoy incredible views over the Bitterroot Mountains. Or, we offer a van-based tour with short walks, focused on the local history of the area including the Nez Perce and early pioneers. This includes a visit of the small town of Kooskia and the nearby Nez Perce site of Clear Creek. Then we visit Heart of the Monster, where, according to Nez Perce tradition, the Nez Perce people were created. We’ll visit a number of other sites in Kamiah, learning about the rich culture of the Nez Perce and stories of early homestead days in the area. Another option is to take a gentle hike on one of the nearby trails.
Lunch will take place during your activity.
3:30 - 4:30 pm (depending on activity) Return to the lodge. Free time.
6:30 pm – Appetizers at the Syringa Café. Dutch oven cooking class for whoever would like to learn to cook in a Dutch oven.
7:00 pm – Dinner served. Evening free around the campfire or soaking in the hot tub of your private cabin.
Wednesday
7:30 am – Breakfast is served in the restaurant.
9:00 am – Some people may be ready to simply relax in their cabins, go on a walk or take one of our bikes out for ride. Or maybe you’ll want to head to a local beach to soak up some rays. There are also a couple of local fish ponds, stocked by the Idaho Fish & Game Department and great fun for kids of all ages. If you decide on any of these options, we’ll pack a box lunch for you. Otherwise, you can choose:
Adventure Series: Among today’s choices will be an optional horseback ride for a half or full day, a guided bike ride on a local trail chosen depending on people’s abilities and interest or a guided hike. There is an additional charge for these activities which range in cost from $65 to $145 per person.
Explorer Series: If there is an activity in this series, as described above, that you haven’t yet enjoyed and would like to, we can arrange it today. There is an additional charge for today’s Explorer Series choice of $120 per person.
3:30 pm or later (depending on activity chosen) – Return to the lodge.
6:00 pm – Happy Hour at the Syringa Cafe!
7:00 pm – Gala farewell dinner at the Syringa Café.
Thursday
9:00 am – Breakfast and check out. Please have your cabins empty so our house cleaning crew can get to work. If you want to extend your time in the area, you could sign up for an optional morning or full-day horseback ride before heading to your next destination. Or you might want to join one of our rafting trips on the St. Joe, Snake River in Hells Canyon or even the Middle Fork of the Salmon.
