Five Days - Sunday to Thursday All Inclusive (Fall Package: Aug 30 - Sept 9)

Sunday
3:00 pm – Check in. Guests arrive and check in to their cabins.
6:00 pm – Get acquainted with other lodge guests as we host appetizers and introductions and orientation for the week. Choose tomorrow’s activities.
7:00 pm – Dinner is served in the Syringa Cafe. After dinner enjoy time around the campfire visiting with others, or retreat for a quiet evening in your cabin.

Monday
9:00 am – Breakfast is served in the restaurant.
10:00 am – Meet at the ROW Adventures outpost building (next to the restaurant) for today’s activity choices.

Adventure Series: A gentle float on the Middle Fork of the Clearwater in either a raft or sit-on-top kayak.
Explorer Series: A hiking trip on a nearby trail. There are dozens of trails to choose from and each week the destinations will be different depending on trail conditions, weather and other seasonal conditions. We’ll tailor this to each group’s interest as some trails are more demanding than others. One example would be an easy walk up Canyon Creek to visit the ruins of a Japanese Internment camp from the days of WWII. This is an amazing story and important part of our country’s history. After this we go to the Lochsa Historical Ranger Station to learn more about the early years of the Forest Service and their important role in shaping the West.

Whatever activity you choose, we’ll have lunch on the river on a lovely sand beach, or on the trail beneath towering pines.

4:30 pm – We return to River Dance Lodge. Enjoy some free time in your cabin.
6:30 pm – Appetizers at the Syringa Cafe.
7:00 pm – Dinner served in the Syringa Cafe. Sign up for tomorrow’s activities. After dinner enjoy time around the campfire if you’d like.

Tuesday
9:00 am – Breakfast is served in the restaurant.
10:00 am – Meet at the ROW Adventures outpost building for today’s activities.

Adventure Series: Your choice of a hike or bike ride. Bike rides vary from fairly level dirt roads to steep and rather extreme single track riding.
Explorer Series: Today we drive high into the mountains above the lodge and take a short hike to an active fire lookout with incredible views over the Bitterroot Mountains. It’s the perfect setting to learn about the “big burn” of 1910 that shaped the history of the West. In August we’ll likely find huckleberries to pick too!

Lunch will take place during your activity.

3:30 - 4:30 pm (depending on activity) Return to the lodge. Free time.
5:30 pm – Appetizers at the Syringa Café. Dutch oven cooking class for whoever would like to learn to cook in a Dutch oven.
7:00 pm – Dinner served. Evening free around the campfire or soaking in the hot tub of your private cabin.

Wednesday

9:00 am – Breakfast is served in the restaurant.
10:00 am – Today is a free day to spend as you wish or choose our “Explorer Series” option. Some people may be ready to simply relax in their cabins, take a walk or bike ride on their own. If you decide on this we’ll pack a box lunch for you. Otherwise, you can choose:

Explorer Series: One of today’s choices is a van-based tour with short walks, focused on the local history of the area including the Nez Perce and early pioneers. We’ll head down the road and start with a visit of the small town of Kooskia and the nearby Nez Perce site of Clear Creek. Then we visit Heart of the Monster, the place of creation for the Nez Perce. We’ll visit a number of other sites in Kamiah, learning about the rich culture of the Nez Perce and stories of early homestead days in the area.

3:30 pm or later (depending on activity chosen) – Return to the lodge.
6:00 pm Happy Hour at the Syringa Cafe!
7:00 pm – Gala farewell dinner at the Syringa Café.

Thursday
9:00 am – Breakfast and check out. Please have your cabins empty so our house cleaning crew can get to work. If you want to extend your time in the area, you could sign up for an optional morning or full-day horseback ride before heading to your next destination.
